Venice Day One 4/4

Today we start at San Marco, strolling across Riva degli Schiavoni all the way to the Arsenale, back past beautiful shop windows and finishing at Campo di San Giacomo di Rialto and our first cocktails on venetian soil.
Piazza San Marco is probably the heart of Venice with the famous St Mark's Basilica and the Doge's palace. We were lucky, because at the time we arrived, the sun already set and bathed in golden light, everything looked even prettier.

After a while we continued our walk and strolled across the Riva degli Schiavoni along the waterfront, where you have a super nice view on the lagoon. Acording to the german Wikipedia entry, it is the most important promenade in Venice.

Venice Day One 3/4

Puh, if I keep publishing blogpost like I did before, I will not even be finished with my Venicetrip in 2018.;) So let's increase our walking speed a bit. First of all because this is day one of four and I have so many photos. But Venice is just so photogenic, you can not not take photos all the time.
So we walked around, but started following the signs towards Piazza San Marco. First we tried to use our mobile phone, but that's even more difficult. Once you dive into the tangle of "streets", bridges and canals, you feel like in a maze.

On our way to Piazza San Marco, we crossed the Canale Grande and Rialtobridge. But apparently I didn't take a photo of the bridge. Maybe because it was under restauration and covered.

In the area around the rialto bridge there are also some more convenient souvenir shops. And because you feel like in a theme park, I felt like dressing up. So I bought some venetian Mikey Mouse ears aka a venetian mask.

Venice - Day One 2/4

Today we go on with our venetian exploration tour without a concrete destination.

Heute geht es also weiter mit unserer venezianischen Erkundungstour an Tag eins ohne konkretes Ziel.

Venice - Day 1 - 1/4

My main destination for my birthday was Venice and even though I have already been there two times, I felt as if I haven't seen much. Ok, my last visit there was more than 10 years ago, so I didn't remember much. Because Venice is suuper expensive (I would even say "the most expensive city in Italy"), we had our hotel in Venice-Mestre, the part of the city, which is on the mainland, but because it is connected to the historical part/the island by a bridge and the trains and busses run so frequently, this is no problem. On our first day and after a 4 hour long busride from Bergamo to Venice, we just wanted to walk around and capture the spirit of that city. Already when you take the train, it feels unreal, because it seems like the train drives directly to the open sea. And when you arrive there, you feel like entering a theme parc.😊
