Verona - After dark & Juliet's House

Verona is mostly known for being the location of Shakespear's "Romeo and Juliet". Therefore there has to be an attraction, all the literaturefans can visit and that's the (alleged) house of Juliet, one of Verona's main sights. And if you are there, don't forget to touch the breast of Juliet's statue in the courtyard.;)

As I mentioned in a previous post, the city is a total artwork, so we walked around for hours, because you'll always find well preserved houses and nice photogenic corners everywhere.

Verona ist weltbekannt, da Shakespear's Romeo und Julia dort spielt. Deshalb ist natürlich auch Julias (angebliches) Haus Sehenswürdigkeit No. 1. und das Anfassen der Brust der Statue im Innenhof gehört zu einem Must-do. 

Wie ich in einem früheren Post erwähnt habe, ist Verona ein Gesamtkunstwerk und wenn man so durch die Gassen schlendert, findet man überall schöne, perfekt restaurierte Gebäude und fotogene Ecken.

Hey there! I'm back! Because how did some wise man say some day: " Before the holidays is after the holidays." Or did I just make that up now?:) 

And there it is, the famous silly season. And the missing posts here on the blog were not resulting from my missing motivation. No, once again I went to Italy for the summerholidays. First to Naples for sightseeing and then to Puglia to visit some relatives and have a little beach vacation. 2016 really seems to be an italian year.:) As if I already live there and just come to Germany for the holidays. But let's continue with Verona.....

Hey there! Ich bin zurück! Denn wie sagte ein weiser Mann eines Tages: " Vor dem Urlaub ist nach dem Urlaub."(Oder habe ich es mir gerade nur aus den Fingern gesogen?;) Ja da ist dieses bekannte Sommerloch, denn das Fehlen von Posts ist nicht zurückzuführen auf meine Motivationslosigkeit, von der ich ja vor einiger Zeit erzählt habe. Nein, ich war mal wieder in, dreimal darf jedermann raten, in Italien. Also 2016 ist bisher ja wirklich ein italienisches Jahr und langsam kommt es mir so vor als würd ich dort wohnen und immer nur für Urlaube hier nach Deutschland kommen. Naja, aber jetzt mal weiter im Text und Verona. (Damit wir diese Stadt dann auch abgeklappert haben;)

Verona Part 2 - Castelvecchio

During our last stay in Verona, we always walked by that fortress, so this time we really wanted to see what's inside. You don't see much of the original interior design, but I assume, that it never had fresco paintings or much decoration, because it was mainly used for military purposes. Now it houses a museum with paintings, sculptures and weapons, but the hightlight is the view you have on the river Adige and the veronese bridges.

Bei unserem damaligen Aufenthalt in Verona sind wir immer nur dran vorbei gelaufen, jetzt wollten wir uns die Burg einmal von innen anschauen. Die Burg an sich hat von der originalen Austattung der Innenräume nicht allzu viel zu bieten, wobei ich annehme, dass sie wahrscheinlich auch schon damals nicht über reich verzierte Wände oder Dekorationen verfügte, da sie wohl hauptsächlich als Festung und Kaserne genutzt wurde. Jedoch befindet sich ein kleines Museum mit Gemälden, Statuen und Waffen dort. Das eigentliche Hightlight ist aber der Ausblick, den man auf den Fluss Adige und die veroneser Brücken hat.

Verona Part 1- City Center

Holidays at the Garda Lake arent't just for hiking and naturelovers, but also for people who love to explore cities. Verona is just half an hour away from the Lake and you can also reach Venice in less than two hours. I have to admit, I'm more of a cityfan and love the variety of activities like museums, shops and events. Many years ago I already spent one week in Verona, but now after more then 10 years I returned and wanted to show my boyfriend the city. Even though the city doesn't offer many individual and sensational sights, considered as a whole, "she" is a total artwork.

Urlaub am Gardasee ist nicht nur etwas für Wander-und Naturfreaks, sondern auch etwas für Großstadtfreunde. Denn Verona liegt nur ungefähr eine halbe Stunde entfernt und Venedig ist auch in knapp 2 Stunden erreichbar. Ich muss sagen, ich bin eher der Großstadtfan und liebe die große Auswahl an Aktivitäten wie Museen, Geschäfte oder Veranstaltungen. In Verona habe ich bereits einen einwöchigen Urlaub verbracht, aber das ist auch schon einige Jahre her. Jetzt bin ich nach über 10 Jahren wiedergekehrt und wollte mir noch einige Sachen anschauen, die ich nicht besichtigt hatte und meinem Freund die Stadt präsentieren. Auch wenn die Stadt nicht über viele sensationelle Sehenswürdigkeiten verfügt, ist sie doch komplett betrachtet ein Gesamtkunstwerk.
